Washington, Nov 13 - Washington, DC-November 13, 2008- Today, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher issued the following statement in reaction to U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone’s decision to leave the sentences of Border Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean unchanged:
“Many patriotic Americans are dismayed by the continued persecution and legal torture of former Border Patrol officers Ramos and Compean. The legal establishment has obviously taken its directives from senior levels of the Bush Administration.
“All decent Americans are now calling on President Bush to show some mercy towards these unjustly convicted men who never should have been prosecuted in the first place.
“This case is an ongoing travesty of justice that needs to be set right and I call on President Bush to do the right thing and commute their sentences

Second Border Patrol agent resentenced
A second former Border Patrol agent, Ignacio Ramos, was resentenced on Thursday to the same 11-year prison sentence that was originally levied on him in 2006 by U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone. -- Ramos had to return to court in El Paso for resentencing after the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans...
